What does a 31 hour travel day on a bus look like exactly? Let me tell you!

It started at 3 am after a decent nights rest in Antigua Guatemala. After an hour of deciding what we will do with the packs that dont fit on the roof of the bus, we decide they go on the floor of my bus (along with 25 day packs that have computers in them) and we are on the road by 4am.

Drive for 5 hours, Im sure I must have slept because I dont remember being awake, but I also dont remember much sleep with the uncomfort of being the last one on the bus to choose a seat (sleep is important to me, also had to say goodbye to Rachel for the time being).

Stop for pancakes and wifi at 9am (two of my favorite things)

Drive until 12 where we find ourselves stuck in some major traffic in the heat of the day. Climb out of the bus because remaining in the middle back would mean sweating buckets. Sit on the side of the road in the shade for 6 hours! (the traffic jam was caused by a wreck that happened at 6am). Spend all remaining Quetzales on snacks and lunch from vendors that walk by, and pray we make it through the Honduras boarder before it closes!

Finally make it to the boarder around 7pm. Fill out our paper work for the 55 of us and on the road again by 8:15.

Stop for dinner at 9pm. Almost fall asleep in my plate of food. Tell corny jokes and crack up laughing trying to keep up my spirits as well as my teammates.

On the road by 10:30 and drive through the night. Again, Im sure I slept but I dont really remember it. I know I had to trade seats with some really nice teammates every few hours from the lack of circulation in my legs and the lack of air and other problems.

Arrive in Tegucigalpa around 6am or so. (I think we stopped during the night just cant remember what was happening). Bus drivers have been driving for over 24 hours now and start to lose their minds. We buy them coffee. They refuse to take the directions we give them to Valle de Los Angeles. Also they demand more money because they thought they only had to take us to Tegucigalpa.

Long story short, we eventually make it to our Hotel in Valle de Angeles at 10:15. Approximately 31 hours after this outrageous adventure began.

A DAY IN THE LIFE FOLKS, I love it!!!

We have another long travel day coming up on Monday. Hope it goes smoothly!
